Mauro Giaconi was born in Buenos Aires, Argentina in 1977. He presently lives and works between Buenos Aires and Mexico DF. In 1996 he begins to study Architecture at the University of Buenos Aires, and in 1998 he also begins Fine Arts at the “National School of Fine Arts Prilidiano Pueyrredon”.

 At the end of the year he decides to commit himself entirely to the arts, and starts to work restoring murals at building.  In 2001 he becomes an accredited Painting Professor.  

The following year, he is taken on the staff in Carolina Antoniadis Painting Class at the same institution.  Also in 2001 he is awarded the “Young Talents Phillips Prize – Argentina”, with which he shows at the C. C. Recoleta. (Recoleta Cultural Centre) and Marta Traba Gallery in Sao Paulo.  In 2002 he begins visual art degree studies at I.U.N.A, and has a solo show at the “Pop Hotel Boquitas Pintadas” called “Interventions in a Hotel”, curated by Julio Sanchez.  

He also participates in some art contests. In 2003 he is part of the itinerant show “Boquitas Pintadas 2002” in the C. C. Recoleta, which visited several provinces of Argentina.  He is also part of “Arte BA, 2003”. 

That same year he becomes involved in the creation of Materia Urbana Project, as a curator of the Art and Design areas.  He participates of the exposition “Entrelineas” at ASga, (Alberto Sendros Gallery) invited by the curator Rodrigo Alonso.  He is also selected at Federico Klemm Prize. In 2004 he gets an award at the “ArteBA Prize for three dimensional works – 2004” with his work “Cama Fetal” (Foetal Bed).  He is awarded a honourable mention of the Jury at the “National Drawing Show 2004” with his work “Reposo” (Repose).  He exhibits his work “Columna” (Column) at the C. C. E. B. A. (Spanish Cultural Centre in Buenos Aires) in Micro space 4 and is awarded an Accesit Prize at the “Certamen Iberoamericano de Pintura”.
